Seven Roles of e-Tutor: Iridescent Opportunities vs. Iridescent Demands

Today, we seem to have found answers to most questions about what e-learning is and which roles an e-tutor should play. However, the more problems we solve, the more new problems we face, and the challenging new technologies are now frequently viewed by e-tutors as impediments rather than facilities. Should a teacher become an outstanding artist to manage the power of MS PowerPoint, a prominent navigator to surf the Web, and a virtual psychoanalyst to manage individual students electronically? Are we doomed to race for innovations, or should we pause and ponder on where and why we are racing?

Possible ways of using ICT to deal with political abbreviations (for the Russian-German translation courses)

It is well known that there are some structural parellels in the Russian and German political languagies. In spite of that fact, we face a number of problems concerning translation of political terms. Sometimes it is impossible to find an equivalent of a needed term. The reason for that is mainly a lack of time. Nowadays there are so many new political terms that lexicographers don't have enough time to put them into dictionaries. That's why the Internet is so important in this field. The given report presents possible ways to use ICT during translation courses.

Now sites have over 18 pages and comprise a number of interactive applications which allow to assign tests on line with some elements of LMS (Learning Management System). However, the most beneficial effect of using these technologies will require more extensive research and involvement.

Despite our awareness of the clear advantages of online learning, the usual problem persists: the acceptance by the e-learner of the idea of e-training, how comfortable he feels and how, in his own opinion, effective the learning is. The four main types of tutor’s roles are pedagogical, motivational, mediator and technical. The essence of any language is communication, hence the pedagogical objective of language e-learning is to provide necessary tools for achieving this goal. From a commercial point of view the task is to create an atmosphere where e-learners will continue to realize the benefits of learning online, be able to see results and wish to carry on improving their language skills through e-learning.
